Usually, I think 300 pages is more than enough, but I would like 600 pages this time. I'm sad to know that the third book will end soon, and I do not believe there will be a fourth book. I do not want to end this series, and yes, I know about The Lost Sisters and How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hates Stories, but it is not the same. (I still plan on reading them as well.)

I did not know what to expect after finishing The Cruel Prince, and honestly, so much happened in the spawn of a couple of months in the book and only 300 pages. I do not understand how so much happened. Still, I do not know precisely what happened. There were at least two betrayals, one twist, and lots of action.

First, I love Jude's growth, and I'm also curious about how her greed will develop. If the crown and the power will blind her or her choices will be for the people's best. I wonder when she will learn to balance the power of lies and trust and maybe realize that communication is the key in most relationships. Let's talk more about her greed. She understands that the power is tempting her, and there are times when she is scared because she realizes that some of her motives and actions are driven by her selfish desires. Yet, she is blinded by it in moments where she is given the option of more power. I love it so much since her blindness leads to her downfall and humiliation. The realization that her greed blocked out all of her rational thoughts was terrific and devastating to read. She knew deep down that it was not the best choice, but she still went for it.

So, regarding the humiliation. I love the plot twist at the ending. I had to put the book down for a couple of minutes since I ended up being embarrassed on her behalf, needed to breathe and calm myself down. I usually get too emotionally invested in books. If they are sad, then I will empathize. If they are angry, I am mad. The same applies to embarrassment, I was so embarrassed, and I did not expect that I just turned off my kindle automatically. I had to just take a break and tell myself that she is the main character. It will turn out okay in the end. Her downfall is fantastic, leading to an anticlimactic change in her life. It was honestly not a plot twist I expected, and I usually expect some type of plot twist. It also made the title of the third book make so much more sense.

Spoiler for Queen of Nothing - Read on your own risk
I'm still not too fond of Taryn. I did start book number three, and there is a minor change, but she has lost all of my trust. I hate Locke even more, and I'm not satisfied with how book three has started for personal reasons since I want to see him suffer.

What are your thoughts about this book?
Karen's Choicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11737816102534602790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8910890849976258664.post-51802786107127234072021-09-22T15:12:00.000+02:002021-09-22T15:12:00.596+02:00WWW Wednesday
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words. I'm in the first group of people. I loved it and had so much fun reading this book.

I have been having a hard time putting my thoughts and feelings about this book into actual sentences that people can understand. For some reason, it was very difficult for this book.

The book revolves around a cafe and the staff there. The cafe itself is not fancy or expensive. It is a rather humble cafe with a not very good location. The cafe has no windows, and no matter what seasons it is, its temperature is always cold. The staff consists of one man and two ladies, and they are all family.

The staff itself is special. First, you have the man. He is tall and quiet, though it is evident that he loves his job. His wife is a lively, talkative, and happy woman, though fragile and often sick. Last is her sister, a girl who often doesn’t show her feelings, and she is the only one the Ghost listens and communicates with.

Yes, this book does not only involve time travel but also ghosts and lots of rules!

I loved the book. I truly did. I finished it within two days, I sped through like my life depended on it. I even annotated the things I liked and found peculiar interesting. The way the author described the characters was good, their appearance did not have to be beautiful, but the way he described their personality unfold made them beautiful. We did not get to know the staff before the book's second part and slowly and steadily be introduced to other characters. He took his time explaining their pasts and the reason why some wanted to time travel. Some characters did not even seem important before later into the book.

The ghost caught my attention quickly after learning about her, as she is not a regular ghost. Her existence is purely based on rules. She is both a robot and a living being at the same time. There are moments in the book where she seems almost alive and conscious, breaking her pattern and making me wonder if she is actually aware of everything around her.

Another character that I noticed, was one of the employees. She is described as a rather timed and forgettable girl. Though, the ghost has chosen her as the only person being able to somewhat communicate with her. What about her that makes her special is still unknown to me, it might be her ability to control her feelings, but as for now, it will remain a question.

I will definitely read the sequel, and maybe some of my questions will be answered.
Karen's Choicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11737816102534602790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8910890849976258664.post-47364437305283233942021-09-08T13:01:00.000+02:002021-09-08T13:01:16.718+02:00WWW Wednesday

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "Dancing Script"; text-align: left;">Hello

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words. It threw me off, not because of what happened but because of the way it was written. The style was in the third person, and I honestly had difficulty understanding which person would be the main character. I knew that if this was how the whole book was written, I would struggle to finish it. Luckily, it changed after chapter 1.

The first half of the book was good, but it was not great. I had a hard time understanding Jude's decisions and even struggled to understand her sisters. The way Carden and his friends were attacking her and her sister made me angry, and it all seemed to be moving at a languid pace.

Then it all changed, approximately halfway through the book. The betrayal that happened angered me so much that I had to put the book down and go for a run (my 2nd fastest run of the year, just bragging a little). Jude's intentions become more clear, and the plot started to make sense. I could finally see which direction it was headed. The last half of the book had me hooked, and I finished the book in no time since I could not put it down.

Over to the characters, starting with our main character Jude. I like her. She is strong and has a mind of her own, though she sometimes strikes me as a "not like other girls" type of girl. Sometimes her actions seem irrational and illogical. Despite this, the root of her actions is always focused on improving her sisters' lives. She goes up against the bully because she wants him to leave her and mainly her sister alone. She accepts so much from Taryn, not even caring that Taryn is turning her back to Jude as long as Taryn is safe. Jude wants to become a royal guard. Since then, no one will be able to harm Taryn or her. I'm really looking forward to watching Jude grow.

Taryn is her twin sister, they are identical, and honestly, I liked Taryn initially. She was scared and did not have a strong voice like her sister. She tried her best to find a way to fit in as well. Though, I now hate her.

Vivi is the girl's older sister. She is fantastic and my favorite character in the book. Her personality is cheerful and happy; she lives her own life, not caring about anything. She does her best to find a way out of their world and back to the human world. Despite Jude not realizing it, Vivi has always worked towards a safe way to leave and start over in the human world. She loves her sisters and their little brother and would do anything to make sure they were safe.

Cardan is becoming better and better in my book. I have a theory that he has been helping human servants. Though, as for now, I do not have any strong thoughts or feelings about him. That alone is super impressive.

I was very intrigued after reading the summary; it reminded me of a mix between Hunger Games and Sword Art Online. We follow Ezra, who becomes trapped in a game, a game she never signed up for. The rules are simple; you level up by surviving and killing others; the people you kill will not permanently die but respawn somewhere else. However, if you decide to kill yourself, you will permanently die. The only way to get out of the game alive is to kill people, gain blood points, and buy your way out.

Our main character Ezra is a headstrong girl with a well-thought-out personality. I loved her character development and how she didn't seem perfect. She had flaws, and being completely new to the game and its work meant that she was also naive. She overestimated herself and her abilities and underestimated the other players, forgetting that they also had abilities. This made Ezra appear more human and realistic.

Every player has abilities, and they access them through a book. Everyone has main abilities and can unlock upgrades for the abilities, which I found very interesting and fun. The abilities were unique, so every player had their own style of fighting others.

The world Paityn created was simple and easy to understand. The world itself wasn't the main plot, and I'm glad she did not use lots of time to explain how the world looked like. She explained everything necessary and kept it at that.

Her writing style was also excellent. The way she described the characters was very natural. She described them by expressing their facial expression, adding their eye colors, jawlines, height, etc., clearly and simply. Paityn also described their personality through their emotions and how they reacted in certain situations, cleanly and. It was lots of fun to read it.

There are two reasons why I can not give this book 5 stars.

1) Dramatic scenes were over too quickly.

This book is characterized by action and dramatics. It's a world where our characters have to fight for survival, and not everyone has the right mindset to survive it. The build-ups to important events were over too quickly. Important events that scarred Ezra were over before I realized it was about to happen, something dramatic. The villain that follows us has great potential, but when we first got introduced to him, to be honest. I didn't even realize he would be our main villain.

2) The name change in the middle of the book.

The name change that happens is not my cup of tea. Someone might love it, and I am impressed by her unique way of changing the name of our main character and marking the change of her personality, but it was just not my thing.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Paityn will grow as an author!
Karen's Choicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11737816102534602790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8910890849976258664.post-53679541227248068342021-08-25T20:22:00.003+02:002021-08-25T20:22:28.197+02:00WWW Wednesday

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "Dancing Script"; text-align: left;">Hello

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On a World of Words, all you have to do is answer the three Ws which are listed below.

Feel free to post a link to your blog post or leave a comment if you do not have a blog.
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?

Currently just started to read Madness by Paityn E.Parque, this book was given to me as a review request. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

A Duty…

The entire kingdom’s future rests on Poppy’s shoulders, something she’s not even quite sure she wants for herself. Because a Maiden has a heart. And a soul. And longing. And when Hawke, a golden-eyed guard honor bound to ensure her Ascension, enters her life, destiny and duty become tangled with desire and need. He incites her anger, makes her question everything she believes in, and tempts her with the forbidden.

A Kingdom…

Forsaken by the gods and feared by mortals, a fallen kingdom is rising once more, determined to take back what they believe is theirs through violence and vengeance. And as the shadow of those cursed draws closer, the line between what is forbidden and what is right becomes blurred. Poppy is not only on the verge of losing her heart and being found unworthy by the gods, but also her life when every blood-soaked thread that holds her world together begins to unravel.

Review - which will include spoilers

Confession time: I recently got into booktok and got convinced to buy several books including From Blood and Ash.

Honestly, I have missed reading a fantasy book. I missed the Hunger Games and Maze Runner type of books. In the last few years, I have only read more romance and realistic books, which I also absolutely love, but it is something special with fantasy books.

From Blood and Ash is an adult book, I expected a bit more spice but I did not expect what happened ish in chapter two. I just wanted to get to know the main character and the plot, but instead, they gave me a bit more spice than I expected so early. I was not prepared.

Either way, the plot developed after that and it was very good. The main character Poppy is the Maiden and almost her whole life she has been isolated from everyone, only a few selective people are to mingle and see her face. She is completely shielded from the world and is to be giving to the gods. Despite her circumstances, Poppy is not a weak girl. Being trained in secret, she knows how to defend herself and how to get away. She is also drawn to the world outside of her chambers, which she frequently explores when no one knows. The main part of the book is the build-up, the author is setting up several events to lead us toward the plot twist at the end of the book. The build-ups are often intense and let us get to know each important character and the world that Poppy lives in. We also get to know her perception of the world and we are introduced to the villain.

This might be an unpopular opinion, though some parts of the book angered me a bit cause Poppy just seemed so airheaded which does not match her character. There are moments in the book where either Hawke or someone else basically has said something super obvious to her and she has just IGNORED it, it is like she got insulated listening. For instance, Hawke's friend says something along the lines of:

"It will only end badly like last time"

Poppy does not address this at all, it's like he never said in front of her. Why does she not even think about what he said? It angers me so much. This happens from time to time, when she is trying to put the pieces together but misses the completely obvious and big pieces. She is not stupid, she is not described as an airhead or slightly inconvenient deaf.

Keep in mind, despite my anger towards Poppy's blindness, I still enjoyed the book a lot and have already bought the sequel. So, I still recommend it if you like fantasy with spice.

Have you read From Blood and Ash? A review will be up soon, but let me just say, this book is amazing. I really love it so far. The plot reminds me of Hunger Games meets The Red Queen meets Ender's Game. Other than a handful of social media friends, nobody misses the fat, short and stupid young man. In truth, Billings is secretly saved by a neuroscientist/social media friend, who he thought died. His body is kept in cryostasis while his mind is connected to a virtual world, Billings joins his friend’s secret benevolent society called Perfect Imperfection. With assistance from accelerated learning and artificial intelligence technologies, Billings trains to become a virtual secret agent that helps humanity in the face of accelerating scientific, ecological and social evolution.

While analyzing cybercrime targets, Blackbeard, an elite black hat hacker, discovers a pattern behind a series of philanthropic acts. Employing several false identities and cutting edge tech, he uncovers Perfect Imperfection. Digging deeper, he learns that the secret society is well-funded, consists of supposedly dead people, and is using ultra-advanced technologies outside of government regulation. Blackbeard seizes the opportunity and blackmails Perfect Imperfection.

On his first mission, Billings stumbles upon Blackbeard’s security breach. He knows that losing their anonymity before they can demonstrate a track-record of benevolence will mean the end of Perfect Imperfection, and probably, his life. In a race against time, he must use his newly acquired sleuthing and hacking abilities, along with Perfect Imperfection’s drone and AI technologies to foil this threat to his new world.

Review:

This book was sent to me by the author for a review request.

The story appealed to me, as we have this grey and very forgettable main character. He was not book smart, not street-smart and he was not good-looking, he was just your completely average guy who would normally never be the main character of any story. Though he is given a second chance when an accident occurs, and he is given a second life inside an AI world. The author has built an amazing foundation for the main character and his supportive characters, they are well-thought-out characters with complex personalities. Blackbeard, The villain is a mastermind and therefore has the potential to be a huge threat to the AI world and the organization. Though he at times ends up being a bit too cliche for my taste. He tends to be a stereotypical villain and at times I could not take him seriously. I wish he had the same kind of impact as the main character and his supporting characters.

The story itself is very well planned, the author shows lots of knowledge about IT and technology. S.E Gould clearly has dedicated a lot of time to plan and build up the story. The author's efforts are being rewarded since the story does not lack in anything itself. Though, I must admit that the story's build-up reminds me a bit of the second book of The Hunger Games, where 80% of the story is mainly building up to the actual plot and then 10% is the main part that everyone has been anticipating and 10% is the ending. I wish more of the book was dedicated to the cyber fight between the main character and the villain. The fight had a lot of potentials which I feel wasn't being fully exploited. You have these masterminds fighting against each other, and our heroes are close to lose everything they used years to build, a world that is amazing and has saved so many people. Just a bit more focus on the fight and the potential threat would have been nice.

The author shows incredible depth while writing about IT, the characters, and the AI world. The world the author created was amazing and very well-made. I would definitely read it again if I was asked and I will read more from the author, I just hope that next time, the action will be the main focus and not the background.

Cheers,
Karen

Karen's Choicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11737816102534602790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8910890849976258664.post-11388829710142343152021-06-02T19:25:00.000+02:002021-06-02T19:42:29.023+02:00WWW Wednesday
Hello and welcome to the first WWW Wednesday on this blog!

I got the book from the author as a review request. Some predators come out at night: critters and coyotes, snakes, and wolves. But the woman in the red jacket has no choice. Not since the Crisis came, decimated the population, and sent those, who survived fleeing into quarantine camps that serve as breeding grounds for death, destruction, and disease. She is just a woman trying not to get killed in a world that doesn't look anything like the one she grew up in, the one that was perfectly sane and normal and boring until three months ago.

There are worse threats in the woods than the things that stalk their prey at night. And sometimes, just sometimes, there's something worse than all of the horrible people and vicious beasts combined.

Red doesn't like to think of herself as a killer, but she isn't about to let herself get eaten up because she is a woman alone in the woods.

Review:
The story is based on Little Red Riding Hood, though her reason to travel to her grandmother is an ongoing pandemic. I am a huge sucker for stories based on old fairy tales, but the pandemic part of the story is exciting since we all live in a pandemic; luckily for us, not as bad as the one in the book.

Honestly, I really like the main character. She is strong-minded and logical; she reminds me slightly of all the nerds who think they are ready for a zombie apocalypse. The resemblance is clearly intentional as her family does not take her seriously, thinking she has read too many zombie apocalypse-themed books. Though she is smarter than most of us book nerds, she starts working out and studying, preparing for the long hike they have to do. She clearly struggles with guilt through the whole book; if it hadn't been for her grandmother, she would have given up on her journey. Her grandmother is her only reason to keep fighting and her only hope. She justifies almost everything on the fact that she has to get to her grandmother. She also ignores her past and the mistake that happened, ignoring why she is alone, and the rest of her family, parents, and brother are gone.

The plot is fun, and the author is not afraid of switching between different stories. We first get to know about her current situation, trying to get to her grandmother all by her lonesome. Then, the author explains why she is alone, what happened before and what led to her being alone. She keeps switching between the two stories in an obvious and entertaining way. She manages to keep both stories fascinating and keeps the readers hooked. The story unfolds perfectly, leaving only the ending to be a mystery, which I like to imagine ended happily.

The authors writing style is simple yet funny at times. All the characters have a clear and natural personality; the characters all have their own coping mechanism, making it a bit more realistic. The relationship between the main character and her brother is a great description of two siblings, as they fight but still love each other. Her brother also copes with the situation differently than her, which leads to verbal fights and disagreements. All characters that were introduced seem human, even those who got disposed of quickly.

I can recommend it to everyone who likes stories inspired by old fairy tales, but with a bit more action. This is not a sweet and charming story about a girl trusting a mean wolf, and there is no huntsman to save her and her grandmother. This story is about a depressed but strong-minded girl, who will not be saved, but save others.

Overall, I did enjoy the book a lot and would most definitely read more from her.

Cheers,
Karen
Karen's Choicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11737816102534602790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8910890849976258664.post-76990266464512690022021-04-19T22:26:00.001+02:002021-04-19T22:26:26.701+02:00It has been a while
Hello

As the title states, it has been a while.

After years of neglecting this blog, I have finally decided to start writing reviews again.

Why?

Well, I have missed it a lot. Review:

First of all, I like to give a hand to the artist for the artful drawings in this book. It was amazing. I was looking forward to finish a chapter, as that meant a new drawing.

The author’s writing style is pretty good. I like it when he gives his characters different accents, it made it easier to picture them and it was a bit funny too. It gave the book a bit of humor. His characters are well developed. My favorite has to be Sarah, even though she did annoy me a bit, which I suspect was a part of author’s intention. I did have my negative thoughts about our main character, but that's mostly because I never tend to like any main characters.

It's a cute and funny story, it's an easy read (even though I used some time on it, I blame my studies). It has a lot of romance and action, something I personally appreciate. The romance is a bit awkward but very cute, just how romance should be, at least that's my opinion. Love should be awkward! The worlds he creates are interesting and entertaining. I would love to read more and keep exploring this worlds with the characters, but I have to admit that I'm glad I'm only exploring that worlds through their eyes, since I think I would have been pretty scared if I was there. Ha ha, I'm brave at heart, I promise.

I do recommend this book to people aged 12-17. But I'm 20 and still enjoyed reading it, so if you like fantasy, romance and a bit of action, I recommend you giving it a try. Chances are you will like it. Cheers.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Review:
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">This book would be awesome as an RPG to be honest. Seriously, I would play it. Don't even have to be a Minecraft inspired RPG.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Anyway, as a book, it's kinda a mix between RPG, fairytale and a little bit of epic poetry. Why you may ask, well let me explain for you.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">(I have chosen to pick one of the stories to review, the first one. It would be too much if I review all of them and I don't want to spoil the whole book.)

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">The book has elements from a fairytale such as, saving a princess, a normal boy that suddenly become royal, an exciting and dangerous adventure. The way he writes reminds me of an RPG, since he is pretty quick, everything happens fast and unexpected. A bit too fast for me to be honest. It also reminds me of epic poetry, because everything happens so fast, and the way our main character gets to know other characters. As example: In Odyssey, his son meets a group of men, who invites him and his crew in for dinner. They have a huge party, but this group of men don't ask him for his name before he is about to leave the party. Getting to know each other isn't a big deal in epic poetry nor in this book.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I miss the lack of details and descriptions, everything is moving a bit too fast and you don't really get to know the characters. But on the other hand, the book is full of action. Which might be enough for some, but I personally likes a bit more details and explains. I enjoy getting to know the characters and understand how and why they react like they do. This book kinda lacks that. But don't get me wrong, the action is explained pretty good which is exciting. Maybe I have just read too much from Virginia Woolf.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">This book is inspired by Minecraft, and personally I haven't played much minecraft, so I was a bit afraid that I would be confused. But to be honest, I wasn't confused at all, which is very good. Maybe someone who is a bit more into the game than I am, will find Minecraft inspired elements, but I didn't. For me, it appeared to be just a normal young adult book.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">You know what? This book has pictures! I'm always very fascinated by book with pictures in them. I love how the pictures kinda helps the author and the story to float nicely and smooth. The pictures were of course Minecraft inspired pictures (these were the only times I got remained that I actually read a Minecraft fanfiction.) The pictures were nice and enjoyable, it was kinda relaxing to just rest your eyes on them for a bit before continuing reading.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I do think this book is more suitable for the youngest group with in YA, those between 12-15 years old. But I enjoyed it, it was a quick and easy read. His writing style is good and easy to understand, which is what I enjoy the most these days.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">I give it 3-4 cupcakes!

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

Review:

Cinder is based on the story Cinderella, which was why I
bought this book to begin with. I'm a fan of books based on old stories, such
as "Alice in Zombieland" or "The Grimm Chronicles".

The book has a great beginning; we get to know our main
character and her background story. Our main character Cinder, she is a
mechanic and doesn't mind getting her hands a bit dirty. She is also a cyborg,
hated by everyone around her. Cyborgs don’t have high social statues, they are
slaves, and people treat them like they are garbage. Cinder doesn't seem to
bother about what people think about her as long as she can do what she likes,
and spend time with her two friends and doesn't get bothered by her stepmother.
Her friends are the android Iko and her stepsister Peony, which later become
sick.

Cinder's stepmother and other stepsister are the ones who
are cruel to her. Her stepmother makes her do everything, and after her
stepfather's death, she had been the one to work and make money. Money her
stepmother spends on clothes to herself and her two daughters. Cinder's dead
stepfather, was the one who found her and took care of her. If it hadn't been
for him, Cinder would probably have been dead. Meyer makes sure we don't have
any sympathy with Cinder's stepmother and stepsister. She describes them as
cruel and horrible people, through how they act and behave.

Meyer explains everything understandable. She makes it easy
for us to imagine her universe. The time and setting are placed in the 126th
year of the Third Era. Meyer does let us know about the other Eras as well. The
settings are places on both earth and the moon, Luna. Luna is controlled my
queen Levana, a power-hungry lady. She is willing to sacrifice everything to
get more power. Levana is the big bad wolf, she is even worse than Cinder's
stepmother. Levana is obsessed with beauty and wants to be the prettiest person
in the whole galaxy. The Lunar people have a special mind controlling power,
they can take control over everyone's heads. Though, some of them are weaker
and don't have the strength to control others, also there is people born
without this power and immune to other's powers, also called shells. Levana
have ordered shells to be killed right away, as they are a threat to her thrown
and power.

The book Cinder is filled with action and mysteries. We get
to meet prince Kai, who Cinder falls in love with. We know he might have to
marry the evil queen to make peace with her, but we also know that he is
looking for the lost princess of Lunar, the only one who can take down queen
Levana. We don't know if she is dead or alive, but some evidence leads us to
our theory that she might still be alive, hiding on planet earth.

This is a book you can enjoy on a vacation or if you want
to sit down and read something easy and enjoyable. The romance is a bit cliché,
at least that's my opinion, I think it's a bit awkward and forced. I know that
Cinderella marries the Prince and they fall in love with each other the first
night, but it seems a bit out of place in this book. Unfortunately, this
doesn't get better with the next books, in fact, it gets worse with more
clichés. They are focusing more on their love life than on actually saving the
world.

But, it's not a bad book. I have read all of them and I'm
sad that the series has ended. I do recommend it to people who enjoy
young-adult science-fiction books, with a lot of romance in them.

The characters you get to meet are well devolved and they
are unique and lovable. My favorite character is Cress, since she is way too
cute and clumsy. Unfortunately you don't get to meet her before the third book.

I give this book 4 stars.

Summary:

January 24th

After you've had it, there isn't even a life without drugs....

It started when she was served a soft drink laced with LSD in a dangerous party game. Within months, she was hooked, trapped in a downward spiral that took her from her comfortable home and loving family to the mean streets of an unforgiving city. It was a journey that would rob her of her innocence, her youth-- and ultimately her life.

Read her diary

Enter her world.

You will never forget her.

For thirty-five years, the acclaimed, bestselling first-person account of a teenage girl's harrowing decent into the nightmarish world of drugs has left an indelible mark on generations of teen readers. As powerful-- and as timely -- today as ever, Go Ask Alice remains the definitive book on the horrors of addiction.

Review:

You seriously have to read this book!

I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, and I didn't! I judged it by it's title... Anyway, I picked this book up when I was in the USA, since it seemed interesting and I have a thing for Alice in Wonderland. And no, this book is not another Alice in Wonderland inspired book, it's only the title that it inspired by that book.

This book was written for 25 years ago! So I was a little skeptic about it, but when I first started to read it, I couldn't stop and finished it in two hours (it's not a thick book)! It was so good and very sad, I had to fight back some tears while reading.

The publishers said that it used to be a girl's diary, though later is has been some speculations about a possible author. I don't think this book is a real diary, but that doesn't make the book any less interesting or realistic.

So, a guy asked me if I think this book is more relevant today then it was back in 1971, and I said yes, it's definitive more relevant today, since more and more teenagers are experimenting with drugs. It's becoming a bigger problem and many teenagers (and grown ups) dies of overdosing. I will never ever try drugs after reading this book! I do not want to end up like that poor girl.

The plot is amazing, the book is easy to read and it's always happening something, never a dull moment. So please give it a try, I strongly recommend it.

Because of that decision, their lives are in jeopardy as malevolent spirit targets the group. Tragedies and accidents pick them off one by one, and Chira finds herself drawn to the one person who can see the truth. But can he protect her?

Review:

I honestly loved the cover, it's so cute!

First Impression was a good book, that I enjoyed reading. It's very down to earth, even though paranormal is one of the genres. The main character Chira is funny and smart, even though she also suffers from the disease "love at first sight".
The book is unique in it's own way, I loved the ghost idea and how lovable all of the characters where. Seriously, I don't think there were many characters I didn't like. Tasha has to be my favorite character though, since I love her spontaneous and carefree personality. Honestly, I wish she was my friend!

Creeden's writing style is funny and good, easy to understand and this is coming from someone with English as a secondary language.

The plot was really fun and even though I think it had a slow start, then it suddenly really got exciting and it was almost impossible to lay down. So I would say the book was a fast read!.

I really recommend this book to everyone that likes romance, a little fantasy and action. I also recommend it to those who aren't used to reading English yet, this book was very easy and a nice start for those who want to read more English and get better.

Sonny Lofthus, in his early thirties, has been in prison for the last dozen years: serving time for crimes he didn't commit. In exchange, he gets an uninterrupted supply of heroin- and the unexpected stream of fellow prisoners seeking out his uncanny abilities to soothe and absolve. His addiction started when his father committed suicide rather then be exposed as a corrupt cop, and now Sonny is the center of vortex of

corruption: prison staff, police, lawyers, a desperate priest - all of them focused on keeping him stoned and jailed, and all of them under the thumb of Oslo's crime overlord, the Twin.

When Sonny learns some long-hidden truths about his father he makes a brilliant escape, and begins hunting down the people responsible for the hideous crimes he's paid for. But he's also being hunted by the twin, the cops, and the only person who know the ultimate truth that Sonny is seeking. The question is, what will he do when they've cornered him?

Title: The Queen of Zombie Hearts (White Rabbit Chronicles #3)
Author: Gena Showalter
Published: September 30th 2014

I just love this series! Cant't wait to read this book and the summary is fantastic.

Summary:

I have a plan.

We'll either destroy them for good, or they'll desultory us.

Either way, only one of us is walking away.

In the stunning conclusion to the wildly popular White Rabbit Chronicles, Alice 'Ali' Bell think the worst is behind her. She's ready to take the next step with boyfriend Col Holland, the leader of the Zombie slayers; until Anima Industries the agency controlling the zombies, launches a sneak attack, killing four of her friends. It's then she realizes that humans can be more dangerous then monsters; and the worst has only begun.

As the surviving slayers prepare for war, Ali discover she, too, can control the zombies and she isn't the girl she thought she was. She's connected to the woman responsible for killing and turning Cole's mother. How can their relationship endure? As secrets come to light, and more slayers are taken of killed, Ali will fight harder then ever to bring down Anima even sacrificing her own life for those she loves.
